large photo Georgia College’s Matt Davis has been named to the Milledgeville’s top “20 under 40” in the June/July 2008 edition of Milledgeville Scene.

Milledgeville Scene Editor Ken Eysaman describes the list of Milledgeville residents as “20 young professionals who care deeply about Milledgeville’s future.”

“It was quite a surprise and a deep honor to be named to the list,” said Davis.
“To be named to such a list, considering some of the individuals named, is definitely a humbling experience. I am glad that I represent the university well and play a positive role with the community.”

Davis serves as assistant curator of education at the Old Governor’s Mansion and coordinator of the Watson-Brown Foundation Junior Board of Trustees, Milledgeville Chapter. He also is a member of the American Historical Society, Georgia Historical Society, Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and other historic societies and fraternities.

Davis is among familiar faces in the magazine’s “20 under 40” listing which includes a real estate broker, eight educators, a sheriff’s deputy, a veterinarian, two restaurant owners, an attorney, a librarian and a city planner.

“I am friends with many of the individuals on this list,” Davis said. “It is truly humbling to be included in their company.”

The Old Governor’s Mansion Director Jim Turner, whom Davis listed as one of his role models, said he is proud of Matt’s recognition.

“Matt is an outstanding young man dedicated to the Milledgeville community and historic preservation,” Turner said. “I couldn’t be prouder.”
