Georgia College continues to rank as a best public university in the South and in Georgia, according to the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 “Best Colleges” guidebook.

Moving up two places from last year, Georgia College ranked 10th among the top public regional universities — Georgia’s only university in that classification.

Georgia College tied for 30th among all 128 regional universities in the South.

In the best undergraduate business programs category, Georgia College ranked nationally 199th out of 389 ranked universities, placing in the top five among University System of Georgia schools and tying for third among all public regional universities in the South.

“Our success in this year’s rankings is a testament to the dedication and exemplary work of our faculty and staff,” said Georgia College President Steve Dorman. “It also speaks volumes about the quality of our students. I’m very proud to be part of the Georgia College community.”

U.S. News & World Report’s regional rankings include institutions that provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s degree programs.

The 625 universities in the “Best Regional Universities” category are not ranked nationally but against their peer group in one of four geographic regions — North, South, Midwest and West — which generally draw students most heavily from surrounding states.

The ranking is Georgia College’s third national honor during the past three months.

The Princeton Review recognized Georgia College as a “Best in the Southeast” for the sixth consecutive year in its annual survey or regional colleges and universities released in August.

The Colleges of Distinction website named Georgia College as the only public university in the state among its nationwide 200 “Colleges of Distinction” for the eighth consecutive year released in July.

Earlier this year, The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College ranked among the best online Master of Business Administration programs in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s inaugural online degree rankings.

Georgia WebMBA® at Georgia College placed 43rd in faculty credentials and training; 44th in student services and technology; and 85th in student engagement and accreditation among graduate online MBA programs.
