The campus and local community are gearing up to welcome Milledgeville’s newest members — Georgia College Class of 2016.

Georgia College’s University Housing is asking campus and community members to give incoming freshmen a helping hand into residence halls and apartments during move-in day between 7 a.m. and noon Thursday, Aug. 9.

“We encourage students, faculty, staff and community members to help us welcome this year’s class,” said Cindy McClanahan, housing marketing coordinator. “We’re expecting 1,500 new and returning students to move into university housing, primarily on Greene Street and West Campus.”

Approximately 325 Cat Crew volunteers are needed to help with unloading belongings from students’ vehicles, getting those belongings safely into rooms, providing directions, checking paperwork and distributing water.

Morning shifts are available.

Sign up at www.gcsu.edu/housing to volunteer.
