Attend the largest recruitment event of Georgia College’s University Career Center — the Graduate & Professional School Fair.

The Career Center will host its annual event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, in Magnolia Ballroom across the street from front campus.

“If you’re going through the application process now or plan to in the next two to three years, you can gain good information and new connections by attending this event,” said Career Center Director Mary Roberts. “These schools have identified Georgia College as a university of interest, so they are looking forward to meeting our students.”

The fair welcomes approximately 55 faculty and admissions representatives, recruiting for programs such as law, medicine, business, creative arts, counseling, social work, public health, marketing research, library science and education.

The event also is an opportunity to ask admissions and faculty representatives what they are searching for in candidates and learn what is needed to become competitive in certain fields.

“The Bureau of Labor Statistics says jobs requiring graduate degrees will increase by about 20 percent within the next 10 years,” Roberts said. “Pursuing a graduate degree is a great way for our students to increase the marketability of their liberal arts degrees.”

To prepare for the fair, students should research participating programs of interest, determine with whom they should talk to and create a list of questions.

Institutions attending the fair include Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Georgia College, Clark Atlanta University, Notre Dame Law School, University of Georgia, Valdosta State University, Florida International University, Auburn University, Drexel University and Emory University.
