During 2013, Dr. Harriett Whipple, professor emerita of biology, became the faculty recipient of the Hemphill-Sallstrom Faculty-Staff Honors Award. The award recognizes retired faculty and staff who have contributed outstanding service to Georgia College. In 1968, Whipple established science program Academic Outreach at Georgia College. The now 45-year-old program offers pre-K through 12-grade students adventure-filled opportunities outside the classroom.
Dr. Tom Ormond, associate provost for Academic Affairs at Georgia College, was recently accepted into the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ Becoming a Provost Academy (BAPA) Class of 2013-2014.
Dr. Dale Young, associate dean and professor of information systems at Georgia College, became one of 50 faculty members and administrators to join this year’s American Council on Education Fellows Program.
Dr. Karen Bendersky, Georgia College associate professor of psychology, has co-written her first book to educate incoming students about higher education expectations and strategies to succeed throughout their academic careers.
Dr. Chavonda Mills, associate professor of chemistry at Georgia College, was part of a team of researchers, who received a patent for their HIV findings that could make a difference for people diagnosed with the virus.
